    Red Hawk, Wabbit, and friends

Did a walk on the trail behind where I live and found some critters.. I was going for some odd close up stuff on the hawk so they might come off different.

Are these photos too big? They seem larger then most posts.

Also! I am open to any critique you may have to help me improve. The harsher (with tips) the better!

And... what type of hawk is it? I think it's a red shouldered. Do the eyes really vary with these birds? CaraRose's hawk in that sweet post has pretty yellow eyes and this one has brown. I hope I don't come off as dumb because I really want to figure out what I am shooting!

I think it's a red shouldered juvie, but I'm no expert!

The eyes on a lot of hawks change between Juveniles and adults. The Red Tail in mine has yellow eyes but I believe that changes to brown. Cooper's Hawks have yellow when they're juveniles, and they get very cool red-orange eyes as adults.

Great shots, I love the one of him stretching out his wing.

    The close up is SWEET.
Ok... take this with a grain of salt because I am not a pro, but my tip is to make sure you focus on the eyes... using manual focus makes that easier for shots like these.
Walk softly and carry a big lens.
