Red-Breasted Mergansers

They were unfortunately pretty far out. Most of these were taken at 500mm and cropped in somewhat.

I was wishing I had a polarizer to cut the glare off the water, but the Sigma has a 95mm filter size (it also includes a step down ring to fit 86mm's on there, but I don't have any of those either!) and I don't have any 95mm filters.

That said, there were about 30 males, and one lone female. The boys were putting on quite a show. The girl just looked like she wanted to be left alone.

There's a good chance that that's me and not the camera. I do that a lot with small birds with my 300mm. These guys were about the same size as those birds usually are, LOL, as far off as they were.
