    The real AMERICAN BIRD

I have been monitoring an eagle nest with my friend this spring and here is one of the two eaglets that have fledged quite recently(within the last week)

Bad image , as it was very high up at 11:30 am yesterday and by law I need to stay 1200 feet from the nest/perched bird.

May not be up to your standards but to get a shot like this would please me very much. Nice job and you stayed within the law. What can I say I'm proud of you Paul.
Don't forget about the Gallery. Are your photos there??

    Re: The real AMERICAN BIRD

I could have gotten closer because my friend is registered as an eagle nest monitor with the state endangered species (group)

I have never thought an image was worth endangering the wellfare of my subject, so I stayed back. In a few weeks I may get closer once it is stronger and can feed itself well.

Nice shot Paul, and you're fortunate to have the opportunity to get even that close.

    Re: The real AMERICAN BIRD

I get way closer to wild eagles than that sometimes I had the male of this nest come down the river 30 feet from me and grab a trout right in front of me. My camera was around my neck and I had no chance to grab an image. Honestly bald eagles are great, but I see them quite frequently(though at a distance usually)

I am dying to get a good image of a golden eagle.... some day?
