wish i had known you were coming to this side of the pond. I live about 100km from the parks at exit 114 on I-4 going towards Daytona. What did you think of Discovery cove???

I'm alwyas at the Rolex 24 at the end of January and the historic car races usually around the end of november. The track is about 20min form the house.

a kinda uknown event is the Roar before the 24 in the begining of January . Think about 4days of testing with all classes and almost no crowds. Tickest are around $100 or less for all 4days

Its been many many years since I went down with a camera and technology today is something else compared to thirty odd years ago BUT one thing remains constant and that is getting sufficient light of the right quality down there. These are good shots in every other aspect imo - getting good light that will make the colours pop and provide good definition on fish scales etc. means making a pretty sizable investment in equipment. Would be interested to know what gear was employed here. And would like to see more shots!

This is a cheap (£60) second hand camera from Cash Converters.
Sealife (a brand I never heard of) and an old model, badges fallen off the case.
Pretty much a cheap P&S in a waterproof housing.

It is so old it only handles 1GB SD cards, nothing bigger.
ISO was nothing to write home about, and aperture pretty poor too.
In auto ISO mode it stuck at ISO 64!

In the circumstances the results are pretty good!! I recently acquired a GoPro Hero2 which came with an underwater housing - I'll have a go at taking some undersea sea shots for sharing if the old bones will allow - you have resurrected my interest in underwater pics!!!!

I have a hero 2 and forgot to pack it
At the moment it has the sub 80mph open back on, not the fully enclosed version.
I am going to make up a hot shoe mount for it so I can video what I shoot.

A hot shoe mount? Please tell me more. I have planned to use the GoPro on my boat to film all the fish we catch and release and have also used for a little aerobatics. Great results but very wide angle on the latter (getting good view of green complexion though LOL).

I was thinking it might be a way to make a panning tutorial, show the view from the flash socket as well as the resulting photos.

I was going to say "Not unless you have some way to sync the photo in the video, to point out exactly when it happened." But then I realized the video will have sound, and could very likely most probably hear the camera fire. Duh.

Now that I've realized that, I think it's a fine idea! My issue with it would be the difference in view. When I'm panning, it's usually a long shot, at least 100mm. The GoPro is going to be MUCH wider than that! I'm not sure how that would translate into "Do this and get that."
