    Rattlesnake!!!

Visited the location of a snake den with a friend. Not a lot of activity yet - but found 6 rattlesnakes, 2 bull snakes, and 2 green racers - along with a number of marmots and rabbits.

Thanks Paul. If you get the chance, it's quite the experience!!! Be prepared and you'll feel much better about it. I used a good pair of boots, Cabella's snake leggings, and lots of care and common sense. Planning to go back in about a month when things should be warmer around here... I'm told we should easily see 5 times what we saw this trip. I posted a couple more rattlers on the recent photos gallery of my website (www.naturezonephotography.com) and a couple of green racer's too...

I have seen plenty of timbers, they are quite docile. If I go it'll be with my friend who has been breeding gabboons(and many over venomous) for 15 years

nice, glad to see someone else interested in herpetofauna.

the harsh light detracts from the image, but you get what you can take, especially for reptiles that you usually only find out when the light is harsh.

also i think a lower vantage point would have been helpful.
