    Purty Lady ( shabby)

In mid summer antelope are shedding their winter coat. I would like to say "not too shabby huh?", but that just would not be true.

    Have a good one. BB

The bird in the background is actually a Horned Lark, but looks somewhat similar to a Meadow Lark. There's quite a few of them that come in and water when I am sitting waterholes for antelope. I have several pretty good photos of them, but can't seem to find the correct file. But here's a photo of one so you can see the similarities.

There are a number of times when I take an antelolpe photo that the Horned Lark appears in the photo, either flying by or on the ground and morst are by accident.

Very nice I'll bet she is a beauty with a full coat but it is interesting to see her in that state. I wasn't aware they shed their coats that way!

    Thanks for sharing.

Yes they get pretty shabby early to mid summer. Here's another lady that has quite a bit of hair yet to shed.

But come, late August/early Sept. they look pretty sleek as you can see by these photos, taken about that time.
