Props to Loupey

Hey all, have not posted in a while so I thought I would share these.
Our lake water level has been down for the past two years and that has allowed the weeds to grow and expose the frog eggs that are attached. This brings in the swallows!! There were hundreds of them hovering over the water and flying around. I put my waders on and waded out to my neighbors boat to use as a make shift blind. These things were EVERYWHERE!!!!!

Loupey, I have no idea how you get these in MF There were so many and they are so fast(flying cigars..lol). I took about 200 shots and only a few were in focus!

Here are some that are OK but a little grainy because I had to use a high ISO (800)

First of all, welcome back :thumbsup:

Secondly, thanks for the compliment.

I like your "formation shot" (#2). I think you nailed the focus on the third one. Just needs a little PP attention to make that one really nice.

It was probably more difficult than usual since there were so many. I know it can be distracting when you're following one and then another one, closer to you, goes whizzing through your viewfinder. I like to pick one out which has a flight path in general to what your looking for and then hope that my focusing and tracking intersect him at just the right moment.

By chance did you try using the AF? I'm curious if it can even come close to locking on. My guess is that the subject is too fast and moving too much within the frame for the AF to know what's going on.
