    Pileated Woodpecker

Hi all...I haven't posted here in a while, but I wanted to share these...last time I saw a pileated woodpecker in my backyard was when my 2.5 year old was a baby...

    Re: Pileated Woodpecker

    Hey stranger

Wow! My family would flip out if they saw one of these in our backyard. Every time we catch a glimpse of the red from a Reb-Bellied, we hope it's a pileated. I've only seen them twice at a park. I hear them all the time, just can't get close.

    Thanks for sharing.

    Re: Pileated Woodpecker

Hi Loupey I kind of flip out and reveal my inner bird nerd when I see one too. I actually hung up with my friend like it was some emergency, so that I could grab a couple shots...hehe.

    Thanks Lava Lamp!

    Thanks Quetzal & Paul!

Paul, first of all, it's always great to hear something like that, and second of all, it's so funny you say that...I was looking at my blog from when I first started taking pictures "seriously", and I saw a couple of my first posts...it was fun looking back on that stuff to compare.

I have lived in this house for over 20 years and just in the last couple of years, we have seen this rare beauty. Maybe I will be lucky to get a nice shot of the woodpecker when summer arrives.

    Thanks Speed!

Barb...it's very cool to spot one around here...we're in a townhouse development, so it's not all that peaceful!
