    The Pica Hike

Last spring I took a hike with one of my dogs and my camera to photograph some "Rock Rabbits". My destination was the base of this mountain in Southeast Idaho.

But along the way I ran into some other critters too.

And here's the reason I didn't get more photos as my dog Lexi ran out in front of my and scared a few other critters.

When I arrived at my destination I did get a few photo of some Pica.

Then the weather turned bad and it rained and snowed as Lexi and I hiked back to my truck.

    Have a good one. BB

BB, great images - thanks for sharing. Can you tell us what the birds are? Also, how did Lexi and the bear get along?

    Re: The Pica Hike

The first bird is a Dark-eyed Junco, the next one is a Yellow Rumped Warbler, the one just below the moose is a Chipping Sparrow and the last one is a Western Tanager.

Lexi happened to be right by me when I saw the bear, so she obeyed my command, but the bear heard me talk to her and was off in a flash. It just so happens that her breed were originally bred to chase bears in Europe, so when she got a whiff of the bear she wanted to go after it. But one of her best traits is sticking right with me and that she did when I told her to stay.

Here's a few more photos I took on that same outting.

And a Gray Jay, or as many know by its nickname -- a Camp Robber.
