    Perseverance pays off!

I really wanted a better photo of a kingfisher, so I went back yesterday morning with my blind. I knew they couldn't stay away from this snag. It took about a half hour, after I set up the blind, for one to return. I've fullfilled my mission.

    Hi,

    Awesome photos of the kingfisher!
I like the first 3 most, not sure which is my overall favourite, they are great pictures!

    Here's why I picked them:

~The bird nearly fills the frame.
~There is not anything distracting in the background.
~The kingfisher and the branch are in sharp focus.
    ~Exposure is spot-on.
~No blown-out areas in the photo.
    ~Nice catch-light in the bird's eye.

Photo #5 is also good, it shows the bird in action.

I just think it's so interesting how everyone seems to have different favorites. My favorite 2 are the last two.

Anyway, thanks everyone for your comments.

While they are all nice images, those first 3 kingfishers are awesome! My favorite is the 2nd one.

I like number 2 as well. Great pose! All are nice, though. Congrats - This is one of the hardest species around to capture well. Very timid, and very small.
