    Outside the Fence

As I stated in another post my trip to Texas was not as productive from a wild life perspective as I had hoped. Here is one from out side the fence that I kind of liked, even thought I didn't have the right equipment when he showed up.

Great shot! I like it just the way it is. IMO, the cacti and the greenery make it more interesting than if it was a tight shot of the animal itself. I really like the colors.

    Re: Outside the Fence

Thanks very much. There is kind of an interesting back story on this one. My son and I had gone to town to pick up supplies for a Bar B Que and on the way home he noticed a truck entering a back road to the ranch. Since he lives on the ranch and helps provide security he did a quick U turn and head out in pursuit to check it out. The intruder beat a hasty exit through another back entrance and since he was on longer on ranch property we broke off pursuit. Since we were already on the back side of the property went back to his house over ranch roads from the back. I only had my walk about equipment with me at the time which consisted of the D200 and the 28-70. We spotted this guy on the left side and my son came to a quick stop knowing I would try for a few shots. I had to shot over him and out the driver side window to get this image. The original has part of the window and the mirror in the frame. I was fortunate in that my target decided to pause long enough to turn and look at us and give me time to rip off a couple of shaky frames. This Jack crossed our path just a few moments later.
