Our State Bird

Found about a dozen male and female cardinals. These were all shot from a blind using the 300mm with 2x teleconverter.

Now shooting with the 30D until further notice. It's amazing how much of a difference 1.5 fps makes (between the 5 fps of the 30D verses the 6.5 fps of the 40D - I can't imagine using the 1DmkIII ) even though I typically only shoot two to three frames in a burst at most.

love the pic. the other day at work it was snowing a great looking cardinal showed up outside the break room . everyone was making fun at me cause I didnt have my camera :mad2:

I like how the tail is out of focus in the second one. I had some Cardinals in the back yard but I could only see them through the kitchen window so I couldn't get a shot. Maybe next time.

Cardinals are so jittery and leary that it's tough to get a shot off at the right moment. I won't tell you how many shots it took to get about a dozen shots worthy of post processing


Some of these colors look off to me. Bear with me as I'm trying to figure out the color cast of my new laptop which has a small 12.1" screen (good and bad, btw).
