    Osprey - Hunting Shots

Captured these over the past couple days as I have been working the Wood Storks very heavily. The serendipity is that the Osprey have been feeding in that (soon to be dry) lake heavily, and it's providing some nice hunting behaviour and flight shots with fish.

I was about to say the same. That's a high impact shot !

I prefer the light of the last shot the most though. Just look at that fish...!

Is that a walleye he's carrying? Super series. I sure envy you and your photo ops.

    Thanks all!

Mike - I think it's a Bass. Not sure if we have Walleye here or not (I'm not a fisherman, so I definitely don't know for sure. Funny thing about this place is that it dries up completely every year, so I can't figure out how it gets so full of fish each year?

    WOW! Lovely images!

The fish in the last one looks like a largemouth bass to me (99% sure).

    Re: Osprey - Hunting Shots

Thanks Paul and Loupey! Paul - I'm glad someone besides me liked the "hover" shot....although my favorite is the third one. I think I need to lighten the sky on the third one a bit though. That was a quick photo op, as I was in AV mode working on some woodstorks, when the Osprey went into a dive. Camera did a great job of contolling the whites on the head, but left the sky a bit too dark for my taste. I'll selectively lighten it some.

    Re: Osprey - Hunting Shots

Absolutely fantastic series Bob. That second to last shot where the Osprey is glaring at you is wonderful, my favourite would be the second shot where it seems to be hanging motionless in full display. Super!
