An orphaned Northern Saw Whet Owl

Went to an owl show last weekend. It was a very small show which I think was primarily for kids. Only two owls were there and one of it was a northern saw-whet owl.

Look at those big eyes ! But I was told it was because this owl has brain damage and the pupils cannot constrict well; they stay dilated like that pretty much all the time. This owl was found at a parking lot, where it did not belong, walking by itself. Its left wing was injured and cannot be spread fully. It also is afraid of mice and so hunting is out of the question.

That might be one of the cutest creatures I've ever seen.

Great shots. Really love the first one, you get a really good sense of how small the owl is.

That is a full sized adult and I would venture to guess it flew into a car windshield or window of a building.

What a great set of images.
