    Old shots, recovered...

Found a couple old film shots from a few years back that seem to have found a second life after a little cleanup in Adobe Lightroom... Both were shot using basic Kodak print film from what I remember and were scanned at a pretty low res (around 1280 by 1024 or so) when initially processed.. Found them on an old CD and tried to clean them up... The second, of the tree, was cleaned for noise and doubled from it's original scan size to allow for a better 8x10 print...

I still love these shots, pixel peeping be damned!

Just curious, is there an aspect of film that you miss? Are you not getting something from digital that you were with film?

Potentially a great topic of discussion here. I have a lot of film examples and experience as well that I could add to the discussion if the interest is there by others here.

There're people who still shoot films, but they are people who shoot large format, 4x5, 8x10, etc., films.

There are still a few of us antiques, who have never moved into the 21st Century, and shoot film exclusively.

    Re: Old shots, recovered...

Loupey and others.. There's not a lot about 35mm film (note the qualification on size) that I miss... Occasionally I feel I'm missing a little detail, or the colors don't quite feel right in a landscape, but generally I'm happy with what I can get out of digital...

However, when I do use film, it forces me to slow down a little and think more about "the best shot", rather than jumping right in and taking what I think might be a bunch of good shots that I can figure out which is "best" later.... If I go too long shooting just digital, I think I get a little lazy... I'm sure it's not the same for everyone, it's just some bad habits that I've noticed in myself lately.....

Now, shooting MF or LF for landscapes... Film still shines here.. I personally just don't have the gear (or budget) to do it.. ;)

So yes, good topic for a discussion that I don't think will die anytime soon...
