New guy, help with filter system

I need some help. I have been doing some Wildlife photography lately and I need your advise on a good lens filter system and which few to start with. I'm very limited with my terminogy so forgive me for now, I will catch up. I take a few pictures along around the house in Fl. but my love is in Cades Cove Tn. If you have info I would very much appeciate your help.

Most rely on post processing for the filter affects except for the two that cannot be done later - circular polarizer and neutral density. I would get really good ones that are the size of your largest diameter lens (consider the future) and step up rings to fit the other lenses. You may have some wide angle lens(es) that will vignette and require their own thin filters. – TF

Hello, skeeter, and welcome to the site.

For wildlife, many people (me included) don't use filters of any kind to reduce degrading the image by any extent.

The polarizer and ND filters OldClicker mentioned are the only ones I would recommend as well, but these are most useful for landscape shooters and on wide angle and normal focal length lenses. And if you're really into landscapes, you might want to look into gelatin filters by Cokin so that you can purchase various graduated filters that handle bright skies and clouds on the spot. But using various post-processing techniques will offer you better control over the traditional filter method.

I will only add not to buy cheap filters.
The Cokin system is pretty cool and other good makers are B+;H and the higher end Hoyas.
