My first day out with a manual lense....osprey

I took this a few months ago, earlier that day i purchased a 500 mm pheonix teletphoto lense with a 2x adapter.for my olympus e500. This photo was the first good shot i got with it...took a little getting used to the lense. Not the greatest but i took this almost 11 feet away and about 50 feet below the bird. Its the best osprey photo i have so far i have just started shooting on manual so i am a little shaky with this huge lense ( even with the tripod/monopod!) lol
i sharpened it a little cause it was blurry....

    Must've been a windy day

The far from ideal light situation hurts this image the most, I'd say. Using a 2x usually leads to reduce in image quality. Next time, relax

yes it was very windy...also the last 4 times i had went i only saw the ospreys in their nest....and the scare the heck outta me so i figured i would try out the lense from as far away as i could lol ( the 11 was supposed to be 100 feet away lol dont know why i put 11) but it was far! lol yes the cloudy day did not help either... i have been sticking to things that are closer to eye level now thanks for looking

Thanks for clarifying that - it had me confused originally.

A 2x teleconverter can be a finicky thing - there is definitely a right time and place for it and it changes with each main lens used with it.

Thanks for sharing this with us.
