    Mr. Peacock

This is a shot I took at the DC Zoo. I really like the colors and contrast on all the other parts of the shot except for the top of his head. It seems a bit overexposed to me. I think I got pretty lucky with this, he stood still for my 1/7th secound exposure. Thanks

I am not trying to discourage you in any way, but that image has way too much contrast and brightness applied to it. How may I ask do you edit your images and what camera do you use? I am not great at editing , so I can't really advise you as well as some others on this site can.

I honestly want to see you get the best quality from your images you take, which is why I ask.

Great image though, I can see past the contrast and tell you shot your subject quite nicely.

Thanks for your comment, sometimes its hard for me to edit these to my liking without them looking like the saturation or contrast are too much. Your comment is exactly what I was looking for, thanks. I'm going to work on it and repost it in a few moments.

edit: new photos on bottom, after looking at them side to side, i definetly agree with you about the contrast, a little overwhelming.

Much better, but something about it still seems too saturated and contrasty. Could it be your defaults in you camera(which BTW you didn't tell me )

Haha, my bad about that, I happen to have a Nikon (no canon here ) but I believe it was on all the defaults when this was taken. It was taking indoor at the bird building at the National Zoo, I didnt edit this one at all except for a crop. I think that leaf with the white thing (reflection?) going across it rather distracting, and the beak is definetly overexposed, maybe I'll poke around in PS with it. Thanks again!

The 8700 is a great camera, but I don't know about it's settings. DEFAULT isn't always the best route, so you might toy around with the settings to find ones that work better in full sun, mixed lighting, indoor and so on. I don't use the same settings for all these situations ;)
