    Moth ID?

I think this is a newly emerged moth but I don't know whot kind. It's feelers were still tucked back below the leading edge of the wings. It was clinging on the side of a gas station in Georgia a couple weeks ago.

    Tersa Sphinx, Xylophanes tersa

The "Feelers" as you put it are commonly tucked down in this species. They are a nocturnal moth and therefore do not typically keep them errect during daylight hours. Also the one you have here is typical of a fully formed adult. It is far from newly emerged.

    Thanks for sharing!

Thanks Almo. I hadn't seen that shape of wing before. I hadn't even realized that I had used our childhood name for antennae.
