    Morning at the Toronto Zoo

We abused our Zoo membership the other day and went early in teh morning just as the gates opened. What a trip. It was like we owned the Zoo. Noe one but us until around 10:30 when the school buses arrived. And by that time they had to catch up to us way in the back of the zoo. Best part according to my wife was the lack of line ups for the bathroom lol.

Here's my favourite shots from the day:

Very nice! With no one around you must have had plenty of time to get these shots!

I love the detail on the elephant as well as the cheetah!!!!

Thanks for the comments everyone. We had so much fun we went back again 2 day slater and went the opposite way around the loop. It's amazing what you catch when you change the way you do things

#4 was unfortunately shot through glass. This is one of the things I like least about shooting at the zoo but since it give the only opportunity to shoot these guys other than through a 2 inch grid I did my best. I edited it by doing a very slight Oil Painting filter on it in Post to remove the noise from shooting at a high ISO to get the subject to show in the cave she was sitting in.

    Great shots!
I like to be at zoo right when it opens also, I don't like crowds

Did you use your 510 or 500?

    Thanks for the comments everyone.

All shots above were with the 510. I haven't used my 500 now for almost 8 months for anything other than wide angle shots while my Tele lens is mounted on the 510
