    more from the porch

my hummer children were being very cooperative last night too.

was able to get 2 different species at the feeder at once. the bossy male was both there and guarding from the tree. he didn't mind the females but sure would let the other males come in

not the best light but you shoot when ya can and learn differnt light settings.

i have found wildlife work when they feel like it and not just wehnyou have the right light

    Re: more from the porch

the 2 females eating are allens on the left and blackchin on the right. the allens female is virtually indistinguishable from the rufus feamle but i know my hummers and it is the wrong time of the year for rufus. that is why i know it is a allens. i have also seen the allens amle eher but not that night.

the single sitting on feeder perch is a different blackchin female, younger i think, and the dark headed one in the tree and by the feeder is the black chin male.

i sure enjoy talking birds with you

allen's, rufous..... they look the same to me. I am an east coaster, so west coast birds are tough to me sometimes and I have never seen an allens ;)
