    More Hawks

This guy was nice enough to pose for me for as long as I wanted to shoot.

I hope to catch the owner of this place when he arrives home at some point...

BTW, if anyone has any PP suggestions/recommendations for any of my images, feel free to edit and repost...my PP skills require a ton of work....

    Cheers,

    Randy.

    Re: More Hawks

    Nice find, Randy.

They're funny - some are so flighty while others can allow very close approaches. I followed one yesterday to a perch about 30' up. I continued walking to see how close I could get and was able to stand directly below him (talk about really goofy images )

    Nice job.

    Re: More Hawks

It is kind of funny...I was trying to shoot a harrier across a field, maybe 100 yds away( he was really flaky...took off whenever I moved), when I gave up, turned to go back to the truck and this guy was like 20 feet behind where I parked. I did everything but pet this guy. I got up on the tailgate to take some shots, stood on the front bumper...tried a whole bunch of goofy angles...he could care less. There was a fence and a huge snow drift between him and I, or I would have had the straight-up-the-butt shot too...

Its always nice when you get to work with cooporative models

I think the easiest way to make some quick adjustments to your shots in PS is to use layer masks to make the adjustments. It's something that I have only recently learned to do. On the right hand side below the layers pallete you ill see a circle that is half white half black. Click taht and choose what adjustment you want to make. That way if you dont like it you never have to start all the way over again.... just remove the layer mask and re-do it. Curves are the best way to make your contrast adjustment as it gives you the most control over all.

Theres your 2 min PS lesson... I'll make you a deal.. you show me where to shoot the raptors you're getting and I will bring my photoshop tutor and my laptop along so between shooting we can go over PS techniques =) .....just let me get home fom Florida first.

    Jay,

Whenever you are ready to make the trek down the 401, lemme know. I literally see 20+ hawks a day.

    Have fun in FLA.

Loupey, No prob at all...nice butt shot!

Paul, It's a bald eagle nest...and this time I have permission from the landowner to come back anytime and take pics. I got some pics of two of them soaring near the river, but they were pretty high and kinda far away...

I am going to so some 'sit-n-wait' on that nest this weekend...

Those are nice shots, don't you love when they cooperate with you?
Last summer I found a green heron that I could practically stand right next to and he posed happily for dozens of shots before he finally took off.
