    more Grand Canyon

I think only half a dozen of my shots actually captured the river.

10mm might be a bit extreme, but I love that sky

Roger said you can't go wrong with red
Shame they're so small - but on the other hand, they're meant to look small ...
I think I prefer the second one, where the trail rises more at the left.

Fantastic shots again Paul. For me out of the last two images l like the last one best because the trail rises more to the left, and the chap with the red top just makes the image perfect.

Is that a small child in a back-carrier? Seems a little reckless on their part. But it could explain why they're walking on the extreme right side of the path

Yes, a child on his back, good eyes.
I'd rather have them there even if they can walk.
Children have a habit of running off, and playing - this is a trail where you don't want them to do that.

OK I checked at 640 crop and it's a rucksack on his back and a child on the front.
Judging from the trudging shoulders down pose, mum might have grown tired of carrying.

Not bad for hand held with the 100-400 at 1/320 wide open at f/5.6.
It's be sharper if I'd compromised on the ISO and stopped down a bit.

    Re: more Grand Canyon

OK, I see now. The path seems well maintained. My concern was that if the dad slips and falls, he takes baby down with him.

I've done a lot of crazy stuff - but wife and kids are always watching and not participating But this path is obviously safer than it first appears.

    Re: more Grand Canyon

When i lived in utah, i was on som epretty crazy paths.... the worst had to be in ZION NP the trail up angels landing.... was so steep in parts they had chains to hold on to and a point was 3 feet wide (the entire ridge... not just the trail). and people HAVE fallen off it. i do believe they were kids messing around. Kind of makes you wonder how they are legally allowed to keep the trails open ( im glad they do though, i loved them)
