    More BIF Practice (Meadowlark)

Been trying both auto focus and the sinewave manual focus Loupey recommends.
So far manual focus is winning.

shot with 70-300VR lens plus 1.4x teleconverter.
Dropped SS to ~1/1000 still using an f11 to f16 to keep DOF as deep as possible.

Wow you made more than progress, you got great shots!

Focus on shot #3 appears to be dead-on. Focus on #2 is only an inch or two (at most) off the head and eyes which is amazing if you think about it. Meadowlarks fly with a purpose and don't mess around so getting a shot or two off before it flies out of range is about all the time you get.

You've probably found out that because you can keep the lens pre-focused at around your target distance, you can track the target better since AF will often hunt causing you to lose acquisition of a blurry target.

    Keep it up

Nice shots! Eventhough #2 is slightly OOF, it is clear enough to engage the viewer. I agree with Loupey that #3 is spot-on.

Thank you both for the kind words of encouragement.
I am really having fun learning this technique.
