    weekned lighting experimentation

spent the last few days testing different lighting, both atrificial and natural. different times and different settings.

don't know what i did different but we have had, according to the experts by necter usage, between 40-70 hummers a day at our feeders. we have seen as many as 16 at once so it maybe true.

i have been snapping till my arms hurt

got a bunch i still have to look through but here a couple with the tongue shot i mentioned.

Wow! That's a lot of h-birds. I'll bet you took a lot of pictures.

Cool shots - how close can you get to these?

Look forward to seeing more from your batch of pixs!

    Re: weekned lighting experimentation

seriously loupy, they were like bees. i was thrilled. don'y know hwta i did different to have them come like that or maybe i just always thought it was the same 4 birds

i took about 350 pics. mostly for the lightcheck but i did get some colors to show on a few which is the hardest part.

they will come as close as 1 foot away but not for you to get a shot. my best angle was midmorning with the feeders hung directly above my tomato plants. they were pretty good at us being 5-6 feet away with little care by them.

we got some supplys and are workibg on building more natural looking feeders with fake flowers.

just like the pros do on "food" photography , it's all about presentation.

now that i have an excellent and very cooperative bunch of subjects its off to the races

That tongue image is great. I do believe they are migration right now or atleast post breeding wandering.
