    midsummer roundup

    I haven't quite given up on snakes yet, although they are now hard to find and spend most of their days below ground...still, insects are making a larger percentage of my shots.

    japanese beetle. I love it when everything comes together in a shot.



    bullsnake found crossing the road near peoria, IL





    @28mm with a herping buddy, Dave. Shots like this have me looking seriously at the zuiko superwide lenses, or maybe the sigma 10-20 (20-40). The lens used is an amazing lens, but it would be nice to get a bit wider!!

    and a portrait. You can see that this snake was about to shed - notice the opaque blue eyes. It also explains the drab ugliness....
