Loud - but what is it?

I heard this before I saw it, around the Hacienda near lake Mead.
Wish I had a longer lens, or some cover to get closer.
These are about 1/4 crop from 300&1.4x

I love the first shot. I believe you had just the right focal length. sometimes, environmental portaits are much nicer. He looks like quite the sentry.
