    Like turtles?

    Saw this colorful guy in the pond/marsh at work Sunday. I confess I have never seen one that has red in it. Hard to tell in this picture, but he is HUGE! (Not that I've seen that many turtles)

    Is that ice I see on the surface of the pond? Wow, he woke up a bit early.
    Since you are shooting around water so much have you ever considered trying a polarizer?

    Please don't take that last sentence as a critique against your turtle photo.

    Yes, it's very thin ice left over. DRATS... you're right on with the polarizer. There's usually not enough light when I shoot there. I'll try that next time. Maybe bring a tripod too. As you can see in the un-cropped version, he was pretty far away and I was hand holding (70-200).

    I like that shot as well. It's nice to see some of the natural habitat along with the closeup.
    It really adds to the story IMO.
    CPLs do slow the camera down a bit. I carry a monopod in my pack all the time.
