    Juvenile Cardinal

    I saw this bird from across the yard and couldn't quite figure out what it was. Once a male northern cardinal landed next to it, it clicked that it was a newly fledged cardinal.

    ugly little tattered guy huh. I seen a fledged robin yesterday and damn it was sinfully ugly

    I think the little girl is cute. Besides learning to fly, and feed themselves, they also have to learn to preen.
