Just Sparrows

So there's a tree/bush which has at least 2 dozen sparrows on it at any given time. Everytime I get near, they either hunker down inside of it or take off (like the cardinals).

I figured I'd just stick around for a while to see if any would poke its head up.

Great shots, i love watching these little birds, we have these and starlings in abundance in our garden sometimes upto 30/40 at a time, gets a bit teadious at times, like id like to see some colour sometimes!! but they are comical little things, iv got Stanley who eats out of my hand now.

Such a common bird but again you make them extrordinary!

Nice shots loupey. I think that first sparrow is a tree sparrow, but my bird ID skills are shaky at best!

I'm having a hard time breaking my habit of not shooting the really common birds. Example; I spot some movement between reeds or in a small sapling way far out. I peer through 600mm and see that it is a sparrow. I put the camera down.

Strange because with macros, it's the opposite - I like to show common little stuff in different ways. Perhaps it's because birding is still new for me.

Oh, Bev, just how many birds do you have which are named?

Just for the record there is Chip & Pin the robins, but im now certain Pin is no more, Stan & Madge the House Sparrows, and Snatch the Starling (these are all hand tame to feed) and then there is M'lady the blackbird, she will come to your feet and be fed, and more so when she has young but has'nt the courage yet to take from the hand.

I tought for a minute that the bottom 3 were of a Eurasian Tree Sparrow`s , but theres no Black spot on the lowere cheek. So common house sparrows hehe but very well Photographed First one i would ID as a Field Sparrow. Now if we can get our resident Bird expert in here lol

The first one is an American Tree Sparrow judging by the coloration of the beak, crown, and chest. He will be headed your way soon, Knight

Just one more from this evening. A song sparrow, I think.

In between very heavy but brief snowfall
