    just a rest stop

yesterday while out bbq'ing, and camera in hand i saw this butterfly, already armed with my polarizer filter on under my telephoto lens, i took this shot,( now cropped),at least about 30+ feet away, and tried very hard to hold the camera still, been practicing breathing control.

    Re: just a rest stop

30' is pretty far. Must be one heck of a combined telephoto.

I don't think the polarizer helped you. In fact, it probably hindered you. You lost at least a stop of light (i.e. slower shutter) and the image degrades with anything you put in front of the lens. I don't use any filters and don't even carry a set into the field.

Keep practicing. Remember, grab (not gingerly) the camera firmly with both hands, both elbows close together and tucked into your belly, and squeeze (not jab) the shutter release

    thanks for sharing.
