Took a new photographer down to Little Estero Lagoon this morning. Not sure what was more fun: All the great birds that were there, or watching the new photographer take his gear out into waist deep water to get the right angle to the light. Don't worry, I gave him lessons in doing this! I'd have felt bad if he'd have dropped a camera in the water. Still, it's always fun watching someone do this for the first time.
Anyway, here are a few of the many images I shot. We had a blast. The Oystercatcher is a new species for me! I knew we had them, but I've never been able to capture one with a camera. Enjoy.
This is a juvenile American Ostercatcher. Captured using my usual modus operandi.....Face down in th mud! (you shold've see the new guys face when I stood up covered in mud!)
The White-Morph Reddish Egret was there again today too:
I tried a couple different compositions on the Least Terns today. I really wanted some flight shots, and I thought it would be cool to get an image of one settling on the nest. The flight shots are really hard, because they are fast, and turn abruptly.
