Jumping Spider
Last weekend was a great weekend for spotting wild life, crab-eating foxes, a black tegu lizard, green ibis, white-faced whistling ducks, the list goes on. It was, however, completely overcast with poor light conditions and none of my pictures came out very well.
I did managed to salvage these of a pretty little jumping spider that I wanted to share.

Re: Jumping Spider
Thanks for sharing. :)
Great crispness/detail in #1. That sure is one colorfully-marked jumping spider – did it get frightened and tried to jump on you? :D It's happened to me a couple of times...

Re: Jumping Spider
That's a beautiful specimen!
They have such wonderful eyesight that it can be difficult to get the desired shooting angle. You did well.

Re: Jumping Spider
very nice, love the striking colors, esp it being x-mas and all :-D

Re: Jumping Spider
I'd almost say it was cute :D Thanks for sharing, Martin! It certainly sounds like a very exciting weekend inspite of the bad light.

Re: Jumping Spider
Sounds like you had a great day out Martin. That is the most colourful jumping spider I've ever seen, great post.

Re: Jumping Spider
I really like that first image!
Are you sure you didn't mean black and white tegu or are you referring to the common tegu that is sometimes called a "black tegu"?

Re: Jumping Spider
Congratulations on getting Featured Photo :) Well deserved - keep them coming :)
Merry Christmas, Martin :)

Re: Jumping Spider
Thanks very much everyone, I really appreciate the comments.
I'm uncertain about the lizard Paul, in my book its down as a Black Tegu but it certainly looks similar to the black and white that people keep as pets. Hopefully I can get some better shots of it to post up.
I'd like to take the opportunity to thank everyone for all the help that has been given throughout last year and to wish you all a very merry Christmas and a splendid 2009.

Re: Jumping Spider
Yes, I discovered that...
I made a note of the report as that is what I thought I was supposed to do in order to save the moderators from getting inundated with reports cf. Frog's thread on spam reporting http://forums.photographyreview.com/...ad.php?t=48522
Sorry if I misunderstood it

Re: Jumping Spider
That's for spam threads. And was only meant as a "temporary measure" while a post-been-reported system was perhaps in the works. Don't blame you for being confused...
Also, recently Photo-John suggested elsewhere not to post replies to reported posts, as it bumps it up in the "New Posts" page, drawing more attention to the spam.
Sorry if I hijacked your very nice thread, Martin. :(

Re: Jumping Spider
If it's a spam thread, I actually quickly make a post to a different thread to bump it off the main forum menu (LOL I've even posted in the Canon forum :) ) for that very reason. But in this case I thought it would be a pity for Martin's wonderful spider to be kept off the front page due to one inappropriate photo a long way down in the thread, so I thought I might as well let you all know that it had been reported.
Martin, sorry for this intrusion on your spider - please forgive me :blush2: I hope you are having a great Christmas time in Brazil :) Presumably as a teacher, you'll get some time off where you can go and explore the jungle with your camera? :) Wishing you all the best! :)
