Wow!!! How close were you??? Those are great shots. That first one almost looks as if the eyes were photo-shopped bigger but I know they weren't. That would make a great image to try to come up with a funny caption for or even to use in a funny poster and/or a greeting card. Good work!!!

I came upon him right at the edge of the forest beside a lake, I was right under him.

Me too. While it looks comical to us, can you imagine being a mouse, looking up and seeing that looking right down at you? I don't think you'd be laughing then.

Amazing shots. Those eyes in #1 are incredible! Great captures as well. I DO have a question on your Exif Info. It says for the FL "400.0mm (35mm equivalent: 2806mm)". Just curious why the exif has 2806 rather than 640mm. Any idea what is causing the Exif to be so off on the FL?

Not sure why you are seeing that I don't see that. Camera is a 5d which has a full 35mm sensor so there is no 35 mm equivalent?

Interesting. I am seeing this in the Exif Info in your gallery below the image:

    Focal length: 400.0mm (35mm equivalent: 2188mm)

I wonder if therer is something about full frame 35mm that confuses Exif on FL equivs? I have started noticing this in a few other user galleries as well.

A question Paul, with a bright blue sky like that, why ISO 1600?

I had been in the deep bush taking photos and when I emerged I came across this Osprey nesting. Grabbed the shot without thinking of changing setting. Would have liked to have dropped it way down but didn't think about it till after.

I need more cameras so I can be ready, my wife loves me saying this ...

Those are great captures but, if she was nesting, don't you think it would have been wise for you to be the one to leave first? After all, getting great photos isn't worth causing a beautiful raptor such as this, to abandon her nest.

Not to worry daddy was sitting on the other side of nest away from me. They were both taking turns going out hunting as I watched.
