    I was just thinking...

Sunday morning as I was walking around checking on my nest boxes I remembered seeing a fox run through the area about a month ago. I didn't spend much time trying to find a den this spring. I have been lucky enough to find 4 dens in the last 3 years. This would be the first time in 4 years that I went without photographing red fox kits. Later that evening when I got home there was a message on the machine. I guy had called to tell me that he knew a guy who had a fox den on his property and wanted to know if I would be interested in photographing them. A couple phone calls later and I had directions to the den. This is a great lesson in getting your name and work in front of people. The contacts we make can lead us to some great opportunities.

Monday evening I decided to go on a scouting trip to check things out. Storms were rolling in so I knew I wouldn't have any light for photos but by getting a lay of the land I could better plan my next outing. They guy I talked to said there are 8 in the litter. I was able to spot 1 for sure, maybe 2. It was too dark for photos, so I grabbed the G9 and took a couple videos. My video skills need a lot of work, but thought I would share. Looking forward to getting back there with some light.

This was taken from inside the truck.
