I hadn't seen them for awhile and had been trying to figure out where they could be nesting. The parking lot I first saw them in is asphalt, and no gravel or rocky areas around. Everything around here is lawn, garden, or pavement.
Then I realized I forgot about this lot. It was good size corporate office they ripped down, and were going to put up new houses, but is now in some sort of legal limbo with embezzlement or something going on. It's completely fenced off, lots of rubble, and between the mulberry trees and the insects that I'm sure are thriving in the weeds, I'm guessing a nice healthy food supply. It's about a block or two from where I first saw them.
Sure enough, as soon as I got close heard them. Took me a few minutes to spot them and took a few shots over the fence. There was also a good sized raptor up on a utility pole, so I hope they're watching their backs
