    hummer season closes and duck season begins!

    male and female of what is considered the the most beautiful amercian duck species although i think all of them are gorgeous.

    the american woodduck. the only breed that also nests and perches in trees.

    ...and they call that duckweed for a reason. I agree about the woodduck being a fantastic looking bird. Many a Cabelas and Bass Pro Shops are decorated with their decoys

    Didn't know about their ability to perch though. Do you or anyone else have a shot of that? My mind thinks that would look odd enough for a good image too.

    trouble with a woody is he will see you long before you see him. i have seen them go into trees and out of trees but so far one perched is right up there with hummers feeding young in a nest.

    then all i'd have to do is have a camera, the right light, the right lens, the right time of day and enough time to shoot it.
