    Hooded Mountain Tanager (Ecuador)

    Whenever birding in the tropical Andes region the mountain tanagers are always a highlight. This may not be my favourite of the bunch. But he is a beauty nonetheless.

    Wonderful colors! I don't think I've ever seen a bird like this. The eye is great. Do you know why these birds are so colorful and birds up here in North America are relatively drab?

    Great color and texture from the tree limb. Your are right I like the eye.
