Hey! - Where'd all the birds go!

Thought I'd share a rather funny image of me with all of you. This was taken by Artie Morris while we were shooting together a couple weeks ago.

Here I am, in my usual photo-commando mode going for low POV images of beach dewlling birds. Of course, I had no idea there were any behind me. As you can imagine, I'm getting quite the ribbing from Artie and his posse over this one :lol: :lol: I have to admit it is pretty darn funny. Just wanted to share with you all, and hopefully give you a good laugh at my expense! Enjoy!

Lovely image, I understand the pillow but whats the frizzbee for? Never mind just worked it out - keep sand off the pillow.

Later this month I will be picking up my 3rd pair of Merrell gore-tex hiking boots! I wear them every day. Great shoes to be out and about in.

Agree with you guys about the Merrell shoes. They're the best, and all I wear out in the field.

Regarding the beanbag setup. This product is called a BLUBB (Big Lens Ultimate Bean Bag), and was designed primarily for car window use. I have, however, found it to be an awesome ground pod for low profile work. I put it updside down in the frisbee for a couple reasons: 1 - Most of the muck I crawl through is wet....and smelly! 2 - It makes it very mobile and easy to pivot as the birds move.

Alison makes a good point! I have a saying "If you don't come home dirty, it isn't photography!". I always come home after a morning shoot full of dirt and mud. Frankly, I regularly have people photographing ME while I'm laying face down the mud. What's REALLY cool is when I'm standing chest deep in the water with $20,000.00 in gear out there with me just to get the shot! Hey, at least it cleans the mud off! :-)

That's funny indeed. The best image I have seen of photogs was and image of Greg Downing and I do believe EJ Peiker waist deep in the water with 600's.

Not an uncommon thing around here at all. I do it regularly. As a matter of fact, a friend of mine (Rod "RJ" Wiley) has invented some protective waterproof sleeves for tripod legs. Seems salt water breaks down the glue on Gitzo Tripods, and the legs eventually fall off from the base. Never a good thing with a 600mm lens and 1Ds body!

Several of us are on his "testing" team. Many of the images you guys see regularly from me are from me standing at least knee deep in water.
