Hawks of Texas

[Old Timer]

I spent a few days with my son in West Texas last week. I usually come home with a card or two full of wildlife images. This time however we spent more time celebrating my grandsons birthday then out in the wild. I did manage to get my best hawk images when two decided to stand guard on utility poles near his corral. I would appreciate an identification from one of the bird experts.

Good capture OT , if they only knew how close they are from sure death if they happen to make contact with the pole or the steel pin

Immature Redtails, maybe? Nice shots. I especially like the way he's stretching in the second one.

Thanks for the comments and the help in ID. They were together just two poles apart which I thought was kind of strange.

Thanks Lori. I was just excited to get close enough to these two to get decent shots with the 300mm with the 1.4x. I can never seem to get in close enough to fill the frame.

Those are all swainson's hawks with the first being a juvenile.
