    Gray-breasted Mountain-Toucan (Ecuador)

Another big highlight for me on my recent Ecuador trip was spending some time with this beautiful species of Mountain-Toucan. In all of my previous 9 months in Ecuador I had never seen this species so it was a real treat to have a pair hanging around one of the lodges that my group was staying at :-)

Beautiful! Can you tell us how you go about getting a bird photo like this? Obviously, you're using a long lens. But how far away are you when you take the photo? Do you use a tripod? Is the bird aware of you? Do you stake out a location and wait for a bird? I just have no clue
