    Got the New Tubes...

The new Kenko auto extension tubes came in this afternoon. After mowing the yard. (Got to keep my priorities right, or so says the wife.) I buckled the 36mm tube onto tthe D2H along with the 105mm f2.8 and tried a few. Here are the results of the first outing. Hopefully I will get better with time as learn them better.

    Yaaaay! Great shots, OT!

I see my work here is done. Time to move on to (gasp) sports or something or another

Or perhaps to start a new project titled "The 2x Teleconverter - Myths and Misconceptions Dispelled"

Just remember, everything that comes out of Japan is good (even me).

    Larry,
I finally ventured into Nature and Wildlife. Looks like I've been missing some good things. I like your work here, and looking forward to seeing more from the new tubes.

Thanks John. I have to do something to keep my shutter finger in shape while I wait for the next sporting event to come my way. I came in after an hour out with the macro setup exhuasted. It is a lot of work stalking the little creatures.

No, not at all. As soon as you insert any amount of extension, you lose infinity. For any given lens, the more extension you add, the more you bring the "infinity" closer (as well as minimum focus).

Although I couldn't demonstrate it at the time, if I left my zoom focused at infinity at 200mm and inserted my smallest tube, I believe it would have focused out to about 15'.

Oh make no mistake I know who the master is. I'm making only a small and humble contribution to the overall good of macro.
