    Yep, it is a goose
    Nice light on the feathers.

    I wish you'd pointed a bit more to the right.
    So that the whole shadow was in the picture.

    Welcome to the forum, sseabourn!

    I'm not a fan of the shooting angle (looking down), but I think you made a good shot of an unexpected moment. The combination of bright/white feathers along with strong direct sunlight is a tough one. You have to expose for the highlights and then try to bring up the details in the shadows during post processing (not always possible if you want natural-looking images btw).

    I think I would take a major/unconventional crop to treat this almost as an "abstract nature" image. I'm not sure that the head will hold up though as it seems a little soft already. I can show you but I need your permission to repost your image.
