Good to be back!...First attempt, Dragons mating, and in flight...

I was inspired by Loupey's awesome shots, these guys are tough! I got a lot of shots, but I need a better long lens, the res is lousy on almost all my pics, I was too far away I think, these were prolly the best of the bunch, will edit and try to add more....Surprised to see these guys out eary, April in Chicago is usually cold ,but the 70's brought these folks out to mate on a pnd nearby...Hawkers?...Is that what these are? I need more practice capturing them in flight, this will be a focus this shooting season Nice to be back on the formum pages (My camera was busted, but I finally got it replaced!

    Welcome back, nps.

That's crazy early. I haven't seen any dragonflies around here yet - not even damselflies. Only a few moths, bees, mosquitos, flies...

I too am looking forward to this season. I hope to try some new techniques.

    Thanks for sharing.

They're starting to get active here again (although they never technically "go away"). About 2 more months and they'll be everywhere. Looking forward to the butterflies again this year too! I like that first image. Nice environmental inclusion!
