Judging by the quality of the out-of-focus areas, I think these were shot through glass?

It may surprise you that shooting in the field may actually be easier/better as you are not confined to a small area. But finding a wild specimen in the wild is a different matter altogether

well I didnt shoot through the glass . I basically open the lid . I used my 18-200 vr lens. I know its not ment for macros.lol plus I finally figured out mow how to reduce noise on my d200. let me know about this pic
