Gave my new Tamron 100-300 a workout (birds)

Just some bird shots from around Nashville. I know the one blue macaw(?) needs more room, but owell, my lens won't reach from Atlanta.

Bev, it's a Tamron 100-300 f/5-6.3macro. It's ok, but so slow, it is somewhat a pain to use. I purchased it for $50 (used), so in a pinch it works, and the macro side of it is pretty good, I'll post some shortly.

Z, these were taken in Nashville, Tenn. I was recently there for fanfair. Some pics are in viefinder forum. Unfortunately I don't feel comfortable posting the best of those.

Thanks Loupey. It was OK, but BUSY and way crowded. Some good came out of it though, and at least one publication will carry some of my photos (from the visit) in the very near future.

Nice images! Those are hyacinth macaws BTW. They are the largest parrot in the world I do believe and are very endangered in the wild due to the pet trade and habitat distruction(as are most macaws). The bottom is a crowned crane and the middle looks like a golden eagle.

Right you are Paul. The eagle is a little noisy, but that can be cleaned up. Some more to come soon

NN is very simple to use once you set it up.

post a queation in the Digital Imaging forum and every answer you desire should be answered. I am not good at explaining software and had help getting the right profiles and such.

Nice shots. The Tamron 100-300mm was the first lens I ever bought (my Minolta 300si came with a 35-70) and I got some good shots with it -- many more than I could have gotten with just the 70mm. The 100-300 is a little slow, but the shots at f/8 and f/11 are as good as any from the cheap Nikon or Canon equivalents, in my opinion. For $50, it's a steal.

Off topic: Have you been to the Atlanta Aquarium yet? If so, do you recommend it?

LL, the ATl. Aquarium is awesome. I posted some pics a while back. I'm going back soon, it's amazing how much you learn in a few months. Plus, I'm all digital now, so gotta give it a go. I'll post some results after the next trip.
