    Little green heron

On a scale of 1-10 with 10 being "fantastic" What's my grade?

I know I goofed on the first trying to brighten the dark face. :blush2:
But at least now the eye is visible.

    Re: Little green heron

You were getting close to where you wanted to be with the 4th image, but you were shooting through a complex jungle. I see you used center-weighted metering...not sure how well that works on a Sony, but with my Canons I find spot metering works much better for this kind of setting, along with spot or single point AF. Not sure about a numerical grade, I think that depends both your goal and experience. If your intent was to make an image to hang on the wall or be selected for the cover of NG, you probably want to go back and try again.

Thanks Ken, for a gentle c/c.
Your suggestion regarding spot metering sent me to the CD and search.
Found the directions and have now set accordingly.
Now I'll try it out on the next "deep woods" shoot.

    PS
At least you did not say NG (No Good)

    I really like 3 and 4.
I had no idea these birds live in AL. I'm originally from Huntsville on the Tenn River.
