Continuing the series of amphibians that I've found around the backyard lately, I offer this fella for your consideration. Feel free to make an ID if you wish.

In my field guide it looks like either the American toad or the California toad. Nice picture :thumbsup:

doesn't look like an american toad at all. do you have anymore shots of it? like its back. (haven't gottan a chance to look in my field guide yet though)

Dylan, I'm going by its coloration... and looking at my field guide, it also has the color of the Woodhouse toad, what identifying marks do you use to figure out which it could be?

woodhouse toads, i worked with them all summer, have a white line going down its back right over its spine. which i might see a hint of in this pic. location aslos is needed though because thats how to distinguish them from red spotted toads, but i'm not sure if species else where may have them.

He's from Florida. Here are two shots from tonight of one of his larger relatives.

they look like southern toads to me

without double checking my work, i would venture a guess that the later two images are bufo marinus, the cane toad. The first image is a bit more problematic, I am not exactly up to snuff on toad IDs.

The first image keeps looking like hyla versicolor to me...

my field guide has the id for the grey tree frog as a dark edged light spot under the eye, that i don't see in the top photo. But i wasn't even thinking a hyla because of the feet (toe pads), but now that you mention it it might just be the angle.

as far as the cane toad, i wasn't aware, but would not be surprised, that they were in florida. if so the size shoudl be a dead give away.
