    flicker and a towhee

a couple of shots from my friday one hour shoot - it was really cold and I didn't have a lot of time, so these are indeed cropped more than I usually like to crop. Still, they are large enough for the detail to be good and they would probably print well at 8x12, although I would hesitate to go any larger! With any luck I will have a bit more time and more cooperative temperatures to find these guys next week.

as found: at first I thought I flushed a pair of doves, but something just wasn't quite right...then I thought maybe it was some kind of game bird like a pheasant, but that wasn't quite right either. They are VERY large birds, I was really surprised at their mass. It was very hard to get close, they are extremely wary.

and a towhee, the first I've ever seen and not mistaken for a robin

    hope you enjoy them!

Very nice, Erik. I like the last Flicker and the first Towhee shots.

    Great detail there!
