First time out with an extension tube

I took a few minutes out tonight as the sun hit the golden hour (it was cloudy though) just to see what I could find in the "little world" as Bevb called it. How did I do with these for a first attempt?

I'd say you did great! I think your DOF on #2 is perfect and I like the color-on-color of #3 and #4. The shallow DOF in #5 works for that image.

What lens did you use with your tubes?

Nice one Jaedon especially as you did it in dodgy light conditions and as Loupey says #2 is perfect.

What lense and tube did you use?

Re: First time out with an extension tube

Thanks guys. I was trying to pay special attention to the background of each shot as much as the foreground.

I used my kit lens (40 - 150 F4-5.6) for all of those shots. I will be experimenting with my 50 - 500 as I get to know the tube better. Sure was interesting using the zoom rather than the focus dial to get things in focus. No fine adjustments really needed. I also found it easier to do the human zoom (leaning in and out) once the focus is really tight. This is gonna be fun once the bugs really come out here.

Hey I just noticed a fly on the branch in #3 lol.
